JIW concert: Bernard van Rossum Quartet
Bernard van Rossum is a Spanish-Dutch saxophonist/composer/arranger, whom you may remember from the Sam Newbould Quintet. After studying in Barcelona and the US, he got his Masters at the Conservatory in Amsterdam. After 3 acclaimed albums with his BvR Flamenco Bigband, he presents here the first album with his quartet. With his own compositions and with the best musicians from the jazz circuit, including Xavi Torres, who you have also been able to admire in Wageningen.
Bernard won, among other things, the Meerjazz International Big Band Competition (2014), the Keep an Eye on Jazz Award (2015) and the “Rogier van Otterloo award” last year with the Metropole Orchestra.
